The Assad regime's destruction of our nation has left Syria devastated. One group, or one institution, cannot rebuild Syria. Therefore, the SNC calls on Syrian professionals to donate 1 year of their lives to the rebuilding effort.
This volunteer program will enable Syrian expatriates to contribute positively to the rebuilding of Syria. This call is for all sectors and all professions from the humanities to the sciences, from long-time experts to young youth who are committed to the rebuilding of Syrian society.
A Thousand Years for Syria, is an all-volunteer program sponsored by the SNC, that will enable Syrian expatriate professionals to empower their local counterparts in rebuilding Syria's infrastructure, economy, civil society and all institutions. Your help is needed across all sectors, in all areas, for all communities. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we will rebuild our nation.
The SNC is developing a comprehensive, multi-phase project plan to manage A Thousand Years for Syria. Below are additional details regarding this project.
Phase I: Awareness-building, Preparation, and Planning
During this phase, we are disseminating the concept of A Thousand Years for Syria through the SNC website and social media to ensure that Syrians around the world are aware of the program. In the coming days, we will start a Facebook page and Twitter account to update followers with latest news on the project.
As part of the awareness-building program, we are collecting curriculum vitae from interested volunteers to document the capabilities the program will have. In addition to support volunteers, A Thousand Years for Syria will recruit Project Managers to eventually oversee work across sectors in each governorate, and drill down to Team Leads for different sectors. For example, Idlib will have a Project Manager who oversees Team Leads for Construction/Engineering, Education, Environmental Cleanup, and Small Business Development. Each Team Lead will be supported by experts in their respective fields. This same scenario, with adjustments to suit local purposes, will be repeated for every governorate.
By developing these scenarios, A Thousand Years for Syria can better prioritize tasks in every governorate in Syria – for example, Homs may require more emphasis on relocating residents to temporary housing facilities during the construction phase, while Aleppo may require more emphasis on rebuilding the local economy.
ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS: Please indicate where in Syria you would like to work, so we can ensure as much geographical distribution as possible. In addition, indicate whether or not you will require accommodations while in Syria for this project. Interested parties should send their complete information to

. In addition to personnel recruitment and project priorities, A Thousand Years for Syria will develop cost models to estimate the funds required to support this program, by governorate. Estimates will include requirements for the projects themselves, as well as volunteer housing, travel within Syria, and day-to-day needs.
Phase II: Funding
Based on the estimates and cost models developed in Phase I, A Thousand Years for Syria will prepare proposals to a variety of donor agencies (e.g., the United Nations Development Programme, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank) to fund the Syria rebuilding project. In the meantime, the SNC will attempt to repatriate funds stolen from the Syrian people during the combined Assad regimes in support of rebuilding Syria.
Phase III: Scheduling
A Thousand Years for Syria will develop a Microsoft Project schedule that will enable us to track progress by individual project and task. We will develop a full Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) to break up work products into discrete tasks. The WBS and Project Schedule will help us to document milestones and make sure the project stays on track.
